How have teams performed during the 2008/2009 season as a home favorite? A simple query using the
MTi Sports exclusive SDQL Trends shows us the team-by-team results. (through 3/24)
The team that has performed best in this situation is no surprise. The Cleveland Cavaliers are 23-11 ATS at home this season as part of their historic 34-1 home record-to-date. The Cavs have been favored in every home game this season. Interestingly, the Los Angeles Lakers have been a bad ATS play at home this season, going 16-20 ATS even though they are 31-5 SU. The worst team as a home favorite this year, by far, has been the Detroit Pistons, going 9-21 ATS. The Memphis Grizzles have also been futile in this situation, going a league worst 3-9 SU, with the average loss coming by 8.4 points. The teams favored at home the least this year have not fared well in the rare situations where they were favored. The six teams that have been home favorites least are a combined 21-39 ATS in that spot.
We can also look at performance based on the line. No particular range of lines has made a great ATS play this year but teams favored by 14 points or more at home are now 37-0 SU on the season. Dating back to December 18, 2004, teams in this situation are now 160-1 SU. These teams make an interesting high risk, low reward moneyline play.
ATS: 357-369-15 | SU: 540-201
