It appears that Cleveland starter C.C. Sabathia will be traded sooner than later as the Indians will not bring him back after his contract ends at the end of this year. Sabathia will probably get a long term contract offer from several teams.
You have to feel bad for Willie Randolph as his days with the Mets seem to be numbered. Randolph is a quality manager who was taught the ropes by four time World Champion manager Joe Torre. The Mets are currently in fourth place in the NL East. It seems that they have let last year’s collapse affect this year’s performance. Randolph may lose his job in large part to a team that lacks grit, fire, and desire. Stay tuned as this soap opera plays out.
No such trouble in Boston where the Celtics are one game away from their 17th NBA Championship after a coming back from being down 24 points in the first half of Game 4 vs. the Lakers last night in a 97-91 win. The Celtics bench which has been good all year proved to be the difference last night with solid performances from James Posey, Eddie House, and P.J. Brown. The vaunted Celtic defense held the Lakers to just 33 points in the second half. We all know that defense wins championships.
