Westbrook Leads Thunder into New Orleans
The top scorers in the NBA go head-to-head on Wednesday night, when Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder hit the road to take on Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.
As we go to press, Russell Westbrook leads the league in points per game and ranks second in assists per game. Amazingly, he’s still averaging a triple-double for the season. The Thunder will need every bit of his production, as they sit with a record of 16-11 through their first 27 games. When Westbrook hits a triple-double, which he has 13 of so far this season, Oklahoma City’s record improves to 10-3.
Power forward Anthony Davis is second in the league in points per game, while ranking ninth in rebounds and first in blocks. But he can’t do it all himself. The Pelicans are 24th in points allowed and point differential. If the Pelicans are going to make it to the postseason – or even back to .500 – they need to find some help for Davis.
The Thunder are 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five against the Pelicans, who fell 101-92 in Oklahoma City on December 4 behind a Westbrook triple-double.
