Rivalry Resumes at the Swamp
LSU at No. 10 Florida
The Ed Orgeron Era is off to a flying start in Baton Rouge. After firing head coach Les Miles, the LSU Tigers (3-2 SU, 1-4 ATS) earned their first cover of the 2016 campaign last week, crushing the Missouri Tigers 42-7 as 12-point home favorites. Orgeron’s second game at the helm is this Saturday in Gainesville, where they’ll meet the Florida Gators at noon ET on ESPN. Odds are pending at press time.
Orgeron and new offensive co-ordinator Steve Ensminger have injected new life into the Tigers attack, but they’re still focused on the running game. Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams combined for 293 yards rushing and all six touchdowns in the win over Mizzou while Leonard Fournette sat out with an ankle injury. Fournette is listed as questionable to return this week.
The Gators (4-1 SU, 1-4 ATS) are looking for some help on offense, too, and they might get some if QB Luke Del Rio is able to play Saturday. Del Rio missed the last two games with a knee injury, but returned to practice this week and might suit up against LSU. Austin Appleby made the last two starts for Florida, losing both against the spread.
